Projects:
Crawford Museum
of Transportation and Industry
The
new Crawford Transportation Museum will be one of the most unique
educational and entertainment attractions of its type anywhere in
the United States. Housed under one roof on the lakefront in Cleveland,
the museum will showcase one of the finest collections of classic
and modern automobiles, aircraft, bikes, artifacts and unusual modes
of transportation. Exhibits
include a rocket car, Roscoe Turner’s famous racing plane, a horse
drawn trolley, and the 13-foot sailboat “Tinkerbell” in which Bob
Manery crossed the Atlantic.
The museum will be located
at the Western end of the Burke Lakefront Airport, near the Rock
and Roll Hall of Fame, the Great Lakes Science Center and the new
Cleveland Brown’s Football Stadium.

The museum will also be adjacent
to one of the new RTA Rapid stops.
This huge enclosed central
space with light filtering through a glass ceiling will serve as a daily
high-visibility reminder to the more than 50,000 motorists traveling the
shoreway that this is one of Cleveland’s treasures that should be visited
often. Located at the confluence of significant air, water, rail and road
transportation, the site is ideally suited to the telling of this museum’s
story.

Once
inside, visitors will discover hands-on displays, interactive exhibits,
automotive, air and aerospace testing facilities, turn of the century
gas stations, a restaurant and even live actors to help bring history
to life.
