This new four-story facility consolidates provides “state-of-the-art” space for the Musculoskeletal Institute, Radiology Research and consolidates all ambulatory care clinics of the hospital.

The musculoskeletal Institute houses outpatient treatment for five disciplines specializing in disorders of and injuries to muscles, joints and bones. The plan is arranged to provide identity to each department at the point of reception, yet allows flexibility and sharing of treatment and support rooms. There is a discreet zoning that separates primary physician circulation from patient circulation. This facility also incorporates a full-service physical therapy suite.

The basement and sub-basement of the facility house Oncology/Radiation Therapy and Radiology Research respectively, thereby increasing University Hospitals’ capability in cancer research and treatment. The R. Livingston Ireland Oncology Center houses University Hospitals’ clinical staff and facilities for oncology treatment and includes radiation therapy and chemotherapy for both adults and children.

The Ambulatory Care Center features a board room and conference center overlooking, as does the Oncology Department, a sunken multi-level garden. Emergency patients transported by helicopter are dropped off on the rooftop helipad, then rushed via elevator to awaiting medical teams below.
