Westlake Recreation Center

The
City of Westlake, Ohio has recently commissioned
van Dijk Pace Westlake Architects to plan
and design a recreation center and park.
The Facility includes a 19,000 square
foot indoor pool area with a six-lane
competition pool and possible diving well,
seating for 200 spectators, and three
leisure pools opening to an outdoor sun
deck. It will also accommodate a gymnasium
with two full-size or four mini basketball
courts, three volleyball courts and a
three-lane running track suspended from
the ceiling. The gymnasium will include
seating for 200 spectators.
A
family locker room, men’s locker room
and women’s locker room will be designed
for users of the recreation center.

A
6,000 square foot exercise and fitness room
along with a 2,000 square foot multipurpose
aerobics area will be located within the facility.
For families with small children, there will
be an on-site babysitting center. Other areas
include a snack and vending area, a 3,000 square
foot community room with a warming kitchen,
a meeting room, and an arts and crafts room.
The
outdoor facility will include two baseball
diamonds, two soccer fields, four tennis
courts and a trail for biking, jogging,
walking and roller-blading.
Planning
for future development includes an additional
three baseball diamonds, two full-size
soccer fields, three micro soccer fields
and four tennis courts.
